Terra tdx420 DVB-S/S2 to DVB-T transmodulator is used for reception of DVB-S/S2 (8PSK/QPSK/APSK) free-to-air signals, selection of desired TV channels and retransmission of them in COFDM format in RF channels in VHF/UHF frequency range. The device allows the user to receive and manage a range of free-to-air satellite channels. One tdx420 module can receive channels from two satellite transponders and convert them into two neighboring DVB-T multiplexes with maximum throughput of 31.66 Mbps. In practice, each multiplex can carry 6 SD TV channels or 2-3 HD TV channels.
The transmodulator allows you to select the required TV channels from the satellite streams and combine them into two DVB-T multiplexes. Alternatively, one DVB-T multiplex can be developed from TV channels selected from two different satellite transponders. In each case, it is necessary to allow about 10% safety margin when determining the maximum bit rate for the whole multiplex (typically the ultimate bit rate of a multiplex should not exceed 29 Mbps). When a higher throughput is required, the system should be equipped with additional tdx420 unit(s). The output DVB-T COFDM multiplexes are usually distributed to users by a passive network composed of RF splitters/taps. Such a solution is especially convenient in modern hotel or motel TV systems distributing a variety of satellite and terrestrial channels, including HD broadcasts.
Thanks to RJ-45 Ethernet port, the programming of Terra tdx420 module is performed via a web browser.
Terra tdx420 unit is designed for receiving FTA satellite TV channels, whereas to receive encrypted TV channels, Terra tdx420C is the right model.
Key Features
- conversion of DVB-S/S2 signals from eight satellite transponders to DVB-T COFDM standard
- creation of two neighboring DVB-T multiplexes, each with max throughput of 31.66 Mbps
- selectable channels and services
- possibility to create one DVB-T multiplex from two different satellite transponders
- integration with dSCR/Unicable multiswitches
- easy configuration and control via RJ-45 port
- management via the LAN
- access to event history (logs)
- automatic gain control (AGC)
Seamless Integration
The transmodulator can integrate seamlessly with other Terra professional TV equipment such as:
- dSCR/Unicable multiswitches, allowing for independent distribution of DVB-S/S2 channels via one coaxial cable
- IPTV streamers for management and distribution of satellite, terrestrial and cable DVB channels within Ethernet (LAN) networks based on twisted-pair cabling
- optical transmitters for transmission TV programming via fibre
- other receiving and signal processing devices (broadband and channel amplifiers, analog and digital modulators)
